Karen Shults
Meet Karen and Daniel Shults—proud Franchise Owners of Primrose School at Brier Creek. This dynamic mother-son duo is excited to bring the Primrose Experience of premier early education and care to families in the Raleigh-Durham area, especially since the Shults’ are generations-long residents of Raleigh.
Deeply rooted in the community with strong familial ties, Karen and Daniel share core family values, a love of children and a genuine desire to provide the best educational experiences and opportunities for young learners.
“It is incredibly important to invest in your child and in the next generation,” explains Karen. “Daniel and I both believe that who children become is as important as what they know and that a solid foundation is built through love, trust and play. It is our goal to provide a safe and nurturing environment where children can learn and grow.”
For Karen, opening Primrose School at Brier Creek is the perfect opportunity to do something rewarding and meaningful in the community, and for Daniel, it provides him an impactful career that also enables him to positively influence the next generation.
At the school, Karen will handle the day-to-day operations and will draw from her business expertise acquired through more than three decades with IBM. She earned a psychology degree from East Carolina University and has a Level Three Director Certification from the State of North Carolina. Karen is also a military veteran, having served as a sergeant for nearly four years.
Daniel, a graduate of North Carolina State University, will lead the school’s marketing, financial and technology-related efforts, applying his experiences from working in corporate sales at Verizon and later with SAS. Daniel’s children will both attend the Primrose Explorers Program when the school opens.
Karen and Daniel look forward to harnessing their passion for children and education to provide a life-changing early education experience for Brier Creek children and families.
“Raising Daniel as a single mother, I realized the importance of providing him with every educational opportunity,” said Karen. “We both understand the benefits of early education and the importance of building the foundation children need for future learning and life.”
Primrose School at Brier Creek will feature the Balanced Learning ® approach in infant through Pre-Kindergarten classrooms and the Primrose Explorers before- and after-school program for students up to age 12. The research-informed curriculum, developed and taught exclusively at Primrose schools, blends purposeful play with nurturing guidance from teachers to encourage curiosity, creativity, confidence and compassion.
We can’t wait to meet and welcome you to our Primrose family!
